With deep sadness, on August 22, 2024, Mark John Kikkert passed away suddenly at the age of 58. Mark will be missed dearly by family and friends, especially by his beloved wife of 21 years, Iris Kikkert (nee Matzeit).
Mark was born in Coquitlam, British Columbia, at the age of 14 he and his family moved to a rural home in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, and he eventually resided in Calgary Alberta.
Mark graduated with a steel fabrication journeyman ticket but mastered many journeyman trades over his 40-year profession. In 2003, he married his true love, Iris Matzeit, and had two boys, Myles and Scott. He loved politics, and stock trading, and was always up to date on world political events and financial markets. Mark's true passion was the wilderness, he loved hunting, cutting trees down, working on the farm or going for a nap leaning against a tree. Most importantly, Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and cherished each moment he had with his beloved pet dogs.
Besides his loving wife Iris, Mark is survived by his sons Myles and Scott, mother Carol Kikkert, father John Kikkert (Jane), extended family and friends, as well as his two loving Cocker Spaniels Minnie and Roxy.
A funeral service will be held at noon on September 27, 2024, at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church 2424 24 Ave NW Calgary AB T2M 2A2.
