John Clyde Ruby was born March 11, 1963, 5th child of Bruce and Jackie Ruby of Ghost Pine, Alberta. His four older sisters were thrilled with the arrival of this life-sized doll to play with and spoil. Shortly after, the family moved into Three Hills where he took his grade schooling and loved playing hockey. John worked various jobs before taking Electronics Technology at S.A.I.T. and later obtained his Executive MBA from Queens University. John lived in several locations as he pursued entrepreneurial endeavors and further education, including Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Florida, Saint-Martin (West Indies), Three Hills, and most recently Edmonton. He became Vice-President of a successful telecommunications firm by his mid-30's, created "Spirits, Hops & Grapes" in Three Hills, and, for approximately four years, lived in the Florida Keys and then Saint-Martin, living his dream of teaching SCUBA diving and owning a Dive Shop. In recent years, John ran a computer services business plus held volunteer roles, contributing to Three Hills Cruise Night and Seniors Outreach. John died August 31, 2024 in the Red Deer Hospital after a brief illness. He is survived by his son, Jonathan & granddaughter Isla of Edmonton, daughter Brittany (Justin) Alenius & grandchildren Riley, Dominik, Annabelle, & Lydia of Abbotsford, B.C., four sisters, Pat Ruby, Dianne Moran, Eleanor (Kevin) Kubinec, and Lorri Ruby (Michael Shah), and numerous nieces & nephews. In honor of John's wishes, no funeral will be held. Memorial donations can be directed to Seniors Outreach Program, Three Hills.
